Frequently Asked Questions

  • What do you mean by “multi-tenant” Cassandra?
  • It’s like multi-tenant SQL environment provided by Web-hosters. There is a single Cassandra process running on each node, but each user has his own login and data, completely isolated from others. It’s achieved due to unique Winguzone technology.
  • How can I benefit from using Winguzone multi-tetant hosting vs. single-tenants environment given by others providers?
  • Because price of hardware is shared with other tenants you get very-low price starting from $25 for production ready cluster with replication factor up to three and even with DCs in different locations.
  • Can other Winguzone users access my data?
  • By no means! After registering you get your own virtual Cassandra cluster with your private namespace. Each user can create keyspace with the same name, but actually it will bes different keyspace, visible and accessible only for its owner and containing different data.
  • Do I need to change or port my existing code to use my Winguzone Cassandra Cluster?
  • Almost not. After registering you get your own virtual Cassandra cluster. Assuming your unique cluster name is first.acme. All you need is to add @first.acme to each login. You initial login is cassandra@first.acme, and you can create other users as well. Moreover, Winguzone Cassandra has some unique  features. For more detail about connection and usage see Help page
  • What is the reliability of Winguzone cluster?
  • Each user keyspace can be created with replication factor three, and nodes are spread in different availability zones or even data centers (depending on cluster).
  • How my data is secured?
  • There is client-node and internode SSL encryption, in addition Azure and Amazon based clusters also have data-at-rest (disk) encryption provided by their cloud infrastructure.
